US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke on the phone with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallad on Sunday, the US Pentagon announced.
The main topic of discussion between the two ministers was Iran’s actions, but also the current situation in Lebanon and the Middle East.
The US Secretary of Defense “assured US support, but also Israel’s right to self-defense”, according to the Pentagon.
At the same time, the two ministers reiterated their joint commitment “to exercise deterrence against Iran, but also against its supporters in the Middle East, so that they do not take advantage of the situation”, according to the same statement from the American Pentagon.
