Four more children died of malnutrition and dehydration at a hospital in the famine-threatened northern Gaza Strip after five months of war between Hamas and Israel, the Palestinian Islamist group’s health ministry said tonight.
These children died at the Kamal Antoine hospital, as reported by the ministry’s spokesman Ashraf al-Kindra. He clarified that a total of ten children died from the same causes in the Gaza Strip.
According to the UN, 2.2 million people, the vast majority of the enclave’s population, are at risk of famine in this region and especially in the north where destruction, fighting and looting make it almost impossible to distribute humanitarian aid.
Famine “is almost inevitable, unless something changes,” the representative of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Jens Larke, warned again today.
Atrocious incident – a new low even in this inhumane war. https://t.co/l5cFjhhd18
