Middle East: New rocket attacks from Hezbollah – Israel responded – 2024-08-14 20:54:13

A new alarm about an attack from Lebanon sounded late Tuesday night (13/8) in northern Israel. Hezbollah confirmed three series of rocket attacks against Israeli positions, the first targeting a location in the occupied Kfarchouba Hills.

A second barrage of rockets was directed at “a deployment of Israeli enemy soldiers in the location of Jal al-Deir” and a third targeted a military headquarters in Meron.

The Israeli military confirmed that at least 15 rockets were detected entering from Lebanon, which it said landed in open areas and caused no casualties.

It also said in its statement that it had launched airstrikes against two rocket launchers that were poised to fire at Israeli positions from southern Lebanon.

Footage posted on social media shows some of the rockets being intercepted by the Iron Dome.

An attack on a US base as well

Meanwhile, on Tuesday night (13/8) the US air base at the Conoco gas field in Deir al-Zor, northeastern Syria, was also targeted.

Missiles fired in the direction of the base did not hit the facility, two US officials say.

A security source told Reuters that an Iranian-backed militia targeted the base with six shells, all of which landed near the US base, adding that the US coalition responded with artillery fire.

The US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, says the missiles did not hit the base and there were no injuries.
