Vincenzo De Luca has “announced” the closure of elementary and middle schools in Campania at least until the end of January. The regional president announced it live on the usual Friday Facebook live stream. The final decision will come “after having heard the ASL“, in a specific Crisis Unit already convened for the next ones. There was a lot of anticipation for the decision of Palazzo Santa Lucia, after days of indiscretions and rumors, with the central government of Rome which had already announced in recent days the reopening of the schools as scheduled for January 10. Already in the past few hours the Regional Councilor for Education Lucia Fortini, interviewed by Fanpage.it, had spoken of “Suspending the didactic activity in presence”.
Data on contagion in schools in Campania
The contagion from Covid in Campania has been running fast for weeks and has not spared even the schools: in the latest report of the Crisis Unit of the Campania Region published last January 4, there are 23,000 positives among students and professors within the schools of the region: over 18 thousand students are infected, along with other 3 thousand professors. What is worrying above all is the contagion of the youngest: middle and elementary schools those most affected.
The mayors of Nolano: “Defer the return in presence”
Already this morning the mayors of the municipalities of the Nolano di Napoli had communicated through theNolana Area Development Agency, the public company which includes 18 municipal administrations and the metropolitan city of Naples, the decision to postpone the return in the presence of pupils who attend schools in the area. This decision was bound, however, to De Luca’s decision to arrange distance learning for the whole of Campania. This is the note from the Nolana Agency published this morning:
Deferring the return in the presence of pupils who attend schools in the area: this is what the majority of the mayors of the Nolana Area Agency decided, after today’s meeting, to which the first citizens of Pomigliano d’Arco were added, Brusciano, Cisterna Castle, Somma Vesuviana. Also present was the syndaco of Octavian, who had already adopted a similar measure in recent days. The decision was taken in the light of the infections that are registered in the Nolano – Vesuvian territory. Except for the Municipality of Camposano, the first citizens are ready to issue, by tonight, an ordinance to protect the safety of students and their families. Only the decision of the president of the Regional Council Vincenzo De Luca is awaited, who among other things received the decision of the mayors through the president of Anci Campania, connected by videoconference. De Luca would be ready to sign a provision, expected in the next few hours, to arrange the Dad throughout Campania.
