Electricity prices are rising. We spend hundreds of crowns on household appliances every month. See how much the average Czech household pays monthly for a refrigerator, television, microwave or hair dryer.
Most Czechs pay the D02d tariff, which is intended for average consumption. For 1 One kWh therefore costs 6.52 crowns to ČEZ. The price is similar for other suppliers.
A refrigerator with freezer
An average refrigerator of energy class C consumes 194 kWh per year. Therefore, if you have the most common D02d tariff with ČEZ, you will pay around 1,264 crowns per year for a refrigerator with freezer, which is around 105 crowns per month. If, on the other hand, you do not have an energy saving class C and, for example, you have the energy class F at home, the annual consumption is on average 310 kWh. So you pay around 2,020 crowns a year, so it costs you around 168 crowns a month.
Dishwasher
The annual consumption of the cheapest class A +++ dishwasher is 234 kWh per year. At the most common rate, you pay an average of 1,525 crowns per year. So, running a dishwasher costs you an average of 127 crowns per month.
Cooker
According to ČEZ, the average household consumes 545 kWh per year for cooking. In total, he will pay around 3,560 crowns a year, 297 crowns a month. “With the same amount of time spent on gas appliances, it would make around 818 crowns a year, “ČEZ stressed on his website.
Washer and dryer
On average, an A +++ energy class washing machine with a capacity of eight kilograms consumes 116 kWh per year. In one year, the average family spends 756 crowns on laundry, or 63 crowns per month. If he also uses a dryer, the cost has more than doubled. The cheapest of the energy class A +++ with a capacity of eight kilograms consumes 176 kWh per year. So you will pay around 1,170 crowns per year and 95 crowns per month.
Kettle
The average electric kettle draws about 2,000 W. So if you use it for ten minutes a day, it consumes about 0.3 kWh of energy. In that case, it costs you two crowns a day, about 60 crowns a month.
Himself
A hairdryer has an average consumption of around 1,000 W. Compared to an electric kettle, the consumption is therefore half. But you probably only use it for about five minutes a day. So a hair dryer costs you about 50 haler per day, 15 crowns per month.
Iron
A typical iron has an input of 2,000 W. If you use it twice a week for a total of about 30 minutes, you will pay 6.52 kroner a week at the most used rate. So it will cost you around 26 crowns per month.
Microwave
Microwave ovens usually have a power consumption of around 800 W. Therefore it consumes around 0.8 kWh of energy per day. So, if you use the microwave for ten minutes every day, you will use 4 kWh of energy per month. So you will pay around 26 kroner a month.
TV
The consumption of the TV depends on the type you have. For example, a large 140cm OLED TV consumes an average of 175 kWh per year, so you will pay around 1,140 crowns per year and the TV will cost you 95 crowns per month. In principle you will pay the same even if you have an LCD TV with a diagonal of about 100 centimeters. An LED with a diagonal of 100 centimeters consumes about 98 kWh per year, which is about 640 crowns per year, 53 crowns per month.
Computer
For a desktop computer, consumption varies depending on how much you use it. If you only use your computer for a few hours a day to surf the Internet, you will consume an average of around 122 kWh per year. So you pay around 800 crowns a year, around 65 a month.
The situation changes if you are on the computer for more than six hours a day and often play on it. In this case, the annual consumption can reach up to 832 kWh. In that case, you will pay approximately 5,425 crowns per year and 452 crowns per month.
