Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 8 and Surface Pro 12 detailed in new leaks

While there have been “enterprise” variants in the past, this generation represents the first time they feature different processor architectures and designs than their consumer counterparts. According to new reports, it appears that Microsoft is returning to an annual hardware update for its Surface Pro and Surface Laptop series, at least in their “for business” version.

As a reminder, less than a week has passed since images of what could be the Surface Laptop 8 for Business appeared online. According to a recent post on Chiphel, Microsoft intends to sell the device with this name, which it is developing under the code name “831_WID”. It appears that an equivalent to the Surface Pro is also in development under the codename “830_QUN”, which is expected to debut as “Surface Pro 12 for Business”.

Additionally, both machines are expected to be equipped with the following Core Ultra 5 226V, Core Ultra 7 266V et Core Ultra 7 268V . In other words, the Surface Laptop 8 for Business and Surface Pro 12 for Business will be sold in 16GB and 32GB RAM variants. Additionally, both devices are expected to reflect the design changes that Microsoft introduced earlier this year with their ARM-based mainstream variants.

Incidentally, this matches an earlier report that surfaced on Reddit late last month. Although this account was deleted, it was said to have been a reliable Microsoft partner “over the years.” In summary, don’t be surprised if Microsoft confirms details of a new Copilot+ or business-focused event around March or April 2025.
