- Qualcomm recently launched a competitor to the Apple M – the Snapdragon X Elite
- The Surface Laptop 6 should be among the first laptops with this chip
- It will also offer a touchpad with haptic feedback and a physical button to invoke Copilot
Together with the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, Qualcomm also introduced the chip to us in the autumn of last year Snapdragon X Elite, which should primarily compete with the Apple M chips found in the apple company’s laptops. Personally, I see this news very positively, if ARM chips really take hold on Windows, it could be one of the biggest evolutions in recent years. And who else should come up with it but Microsoft itself? According to the Windows Central website, the American company is preparing major changes in the Surface laptop line, and one of them will be equipped with a chip from Qualcomm.
Microsoft is supposed to offer laptops Surface Laptop 6 in two sizes – 13.8 and 15 inches, with the Snapdragon X (Elite) processor ticking under the hood. Unlike Apple, however, it doesn’t give Intel the trash right away, 14th generation Meteor Lake versions will also be available. In any case, the Snapdragon version should finally be a worthy competitor to MacBooks, both in terms of performance and battery life. ARM chips have one indisputable advantage – low consumption.

But the Surface Laptop 6 will also see a design change, which we can look forward to narrower frames around the display, rounder corners and also an expansion of the port menu, namely two USB-C, one USB-A and charging Surface Connect. Leaks also talk about a touchpad with haptic feedback or a physical button to call up Copilot.
If Microsoft manages to mix the ideal cocktail and at the same time doesn’t overshoot the price (the current Surface Laptop 5 series starts at 30 thousand in the Czech Republic), it could really overwhelm Apple. There is a fairly large group of users who buy a MacBook with an M chip only because of its excellent durability, but otherwise prefer machines with Windows and use, for example, an Android phone.
Did they buy a Windows laptop with Snapdragon?
