The American software and technology company, Microsoft, announced on Tuesday that its quarterly profits increased by 7% annually to $52.9 billion, thanks to the strong growth of cloud computing infrastructure services.
The company achieved profits during the first quarter of $18.3 billion, an increase of 9% annually.
Microsoft said that its revenue from the Azure platform and other cloud computing services during the first quarter increased by 27% annually.
Microsoft’s results exceeded analysts’ expectations, which led to a 5% rise in its share price in informal after-hours trading.
