Ever since Microsoft was interested in buying ZeniMax – and with it Bethesda and all its studios – there has been talk about the availability of future parts from famous brands. Of course, The Elder Scrolls brand, which will grow by the sixth volume, has also been shaken up, but players are still not clear whether they will play it on PlayStation in addition to PC and Xbox. Microsoft has talked about the games in the past as partial cases that will be subject to individual decisions, but several indications, including the current one, are increasingly pointing to The Elder Scrolls going without the PlayStation.
From Microsoft’s responses in the FTC vs Microsoft case. Elder Scrolls VI listed here as Xbox and PC and releasing 2026 or later.
During testimony at the hearing, Xbox’s Phil Spencer went on to say the game was at least five years out and platforms were technically TBD pic.twitter.com/Kto9bE5U8C

Journalist Stephen Totilo drew attention to new documents that were published in the past few hours and come from Microsoft’s proceedings with the Federal Trade Commission in connection with the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. He shared a screenshot of a table that captures some of the already-released titles that Microsoft used to demonstrate its approach to exclusive publishing and acquired brands in general. The series, which includes Deathloop, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Fallout 76, The Elder Scrolls Online, Starfield and RedFall, ends with The Elder Scrolls VI, for which only PC and Xbox are listed as target platforms. Also interesting is the projected release date, which Microsoft currently sees as 2026 at the earliest, but it’s generally assumed that the game is indeed still “years away”, so the mention is surprising for a slightly different reason.
And in another newly-released document from the FTC case, here’s is Microsoft telling the FTC in Sept 2022 that ESVI “may be released only on Xbox and PC” pic.twitter.com/axaGUwWAW8

As Totilo added, Phil Spencer stated during his testimony that the game is at least five years away and that the platforms have not yet been decided, but the document says otherwise and it is now a question of which information is more accurate. It is also a fact that Spencer himself stated at another stage of the negotiations with the FTC that The Elder Scrolls VI “can only be released on Xbox and PC”, so the situation seems to be starting to clear up and it would not be surprising with regard to Starfield. Although the game could potentially sell more units, its launch on its own console, PC and Game Pass was enough to make it the fastest-selling title in Bethesda’s history, and in relation to such a popular and long-standing brand as The Elder Scrolls, everything could be even brighter.
