Microsoft’s Plans for Blizzard: A New Chapter for Innovation and Quality

It’s no secret that he was Blizzard under Activision was left behind and had to create specific types of experience, often at the expense of quality. The company directed most of its development resources to the annual release of Call of Duty, and the rest went to the side. This is about to change under Microsoft.

Xbox leadership in the form of Phil Spencer, Matt Booty, Sarah Bond and others visited Blizzard’s headquarters in Irvine, California after they completed their $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision’s Blizzard King. It was supposed to be a relatively inconspicuous visit. As head of Microsoft’s gaming division, Spencer stated in front of Blizzard employees that listens to their needs and wishes. Microsoft wants to be a source of trust and enable Blizzard make his visions and dreams come true.

Spencer has spoken in the same vein before in interviews. In them, he stated that he wanted to talk to individual development teams and find out what they would like to work on. Someone from the management of Microsoft then had label Blizzard as the Pixar of the gaming industry. Comparisons to the famous film studio were due to Bliizzard’s pioneering nature and innovation of genres and technology. Yes, that’s how Blizzard used to be, back in the days when they created Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo or World of Warcraft.

Another thing is interesting. According to a source familiar with the server Windows Central there was no Activision logo anywhere. This is evidenced by a photo of the sail shared by Blizzard president Mike Ybarra. We only see the Xbox and Blizzard logos on it.

Ybarra added that it is the beginning of a new chapter for Blizzard. Only Lulu Cheng Meservey, who is executive vice president of corporate affairs and head of communications, was apparently present for Activision. Speculation is growing that Microsoft will separate Blizzard from Activision, leaving it with the following divisions: Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, Activision, Blizzard and King.

Before that, the delegation visited King, where the mobile hits Candy Crush, Farm Heroes and Papa Pear were created.
