Microsoft’s secret documents regarding the new consoles have been leaked to the public
Next year we should see a new Xbox Series X with a different design
The cheaper Xbox Series S is also awaiting an upgrade
A brand new controller with an accelerometer should arrive first
The current generation of Xbox gaming consoles will soon celebrate three years on the market, and the next one is still in sight. They leaked to the public this week internal records from the legal dispute between Microsoft and the US certification agency FTC regarding the purchase of the game studio Activision Blizzard. Among other things, these documents mention that we will have to wait until 2028 for a new generation of consoles, but even before its unveiling we should expect new models from the current generation.
Cylindrical Xbox Series X without optical drive
Microsoft recently rejuvenated the cheaper Xbox Series S console – doubling the storage, “painting” it black and raising the price. According to the FTC, we should also expect a new Xbox Series X model, but the list of new products here should be significantly wider. Both the appearance and the interior equipment are to change.
The upcoming console, which is being developed under the code name Brooklin, should bring a fundamental design change compared to the current Xbox Series X – instead of a block, it should have a cylindrical shape. It should be connected to the existing model by the design of the ventilation grill on the top, as well as the illuminated power button moved down to the new USB-C port. The console is to be fully digital, Microsoft plans to compensate for the absence of an optical drive with a larger 2TB storage.
Inside the console, several partial improvements are to be made. One of them is the deployment of a 6nm chipset, which probably will not increase performance, but will improve the efficiency of the entire device – it is said that consumption is 15 percent lower, even 20 percent in standby mode. Wireless connectivity in the form of Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 should also be more modern.
The Xbox Series S console, which is being developed under the code name Ellewood, can also look forward to more modern connectivity and increased efficiency.
Brand new controller with accelerometer
A new controller developed under the code name Sebille is to come with the new console. It will be two-color, and its main novelty should be the presence of an accelerometer, which will expand the current control options. The controller should have Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and should be able to connect directly to the cloud. In the document, Microsoft also mentions improved haptic response, quieter buttons and caps, as well as a replaceable rechargeable battery. The controller should also automatically wake up when picked up.
And when will Microsoft present the upcoming news? According to the timeline in the document, we should first expect a new controller – it should be presented in May of next year, with an expected selling price of $70 (about 2,000 crowns including VAT).
Don’t overlook
Giant game leak from Bethesda: new Doom and Oblivion remaster are coming
The improved Xbox Series S is to go to the world in September of next year for a price of $300 (about 8,300 crowns), the new Xbox Series X without an optical drive should be available in November of next year for a price of $500 (about 14,000 crowns with VAT) .
