Techno.id – In the gaming world, there is an interesting conversation that is currently trending. Microsoft is said to have ambitious plans to acquire a number of game developers, including Sega and Bungie.
In addition to the testimony of Xbox Head Phil Spencer, currently there is still an ongoing legal battle between the United States Federal Trade Commission and Microsoft regarding Microsoft’s plan to acquire Activision Blizzard which has led to the disclosure of various confidential documents. Among these were emails from Spencer sent in 2020 outlining a strategy to “accelerate Xbox Game Pass” through setting acquisition targets.
As The Verge reports, while the email focuses on Sega, it also mentions its next strategic acquisition target as stated in a 2021 document that reveals a list of companies Microsoft is seeking to acquire as part of Xbox Game Studios. Among them are Bungie, IO Interactive, Supergiant Games, Niantic, and Zynga.

That said, these companies are big names in this industry. IO Interactive, for example, is famous for the Hitman series, while Niantic’s Pokémon Go has amassed a huge following of fans from around the world. While Zynga is the dominant force in the mobile market, Bungie’s Destiny 2 continues to thrive even six years after its release.
Microsoft’s planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard has attracted quite a lot of attention. Even this technology giant is said to have made a historic agreement with Nintendo to try to bring Call of Duty to the console of the Japanese video game company.
