The popular shooting game Call of Duty remains available for PlayStations despite Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. According to Microsoft, this is laid down in an agreement. It is the largest acquisition ever in the gaming industry.
Regulators are afraid that due to the acquisition of Microsoft games from Activision Blizzard will soon only be released for the Xbox. Xbox belongs to Microsoft.
Microsoft’s head of gaming Phil Spencer hopes to allay those concerns. He writes in a tweet that an agreement has been reached to Call of Duty to keep on PlayStation.
“We look forward to a future where players worldwide have more choice to play their favorite games,” Spencer wrote on Twitter on Sunday. With this, Spencer seems to want to reassure critics that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, worth $ 69 billion, will not lead to less competition in the sector.

Deal with rival Nintendo
In February, Microsoft also closed a deal with rival Nintendo about the game Call of Duty. That would be available for Nintendo game consoles for the next ten years. In addition, new games from that series must appear at Nintendo on the same day as the versions for Microsoft’s Xbox game console.
The acquisition of Activision Blizzard continues to be a hot topic. On Friday, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) asked a California judge to temporarily freeze the acquisition process. This request was rejected. The American regulator asked for the temporary block, after a judge had previously ruled that Microsoft may continue with the acquisition of the game company. The FTC disagrees with that decision and is awaiting an appeal.
Microsoft is also still embroiled in a battle with UK regulator CMA. He vetoed the deal in May. It may still be possible to change the British watchdog’s mind.
According to news agency Bloomberg, which relies on insiders, Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are considering relinquishing some of their control over their UK cloud gaming business to address competition concerns. The European Commission previously approved the largest takeover in the gaming industry ever.
