Microsoft’s Acquisition of Activision Blizzard: Delayed Game Pass Releases and Future Plans Revealed

Confirms what Activision previously said.

Although last week it became clear that Microsoft is buying Activision Blizzard (for over SEK 750 billion in today’s monetary value!) it will be a while before we see Acti-Blizz games on Game Pass.

It will take until 2024, says Xbox boss Phil Spencer in the latest Xbox podcast. That it is delayed is due to the fact that the deal took longer than expected to get through, and that the work to release Activision Blizzard’s games in particular has just begun. Spencer says they weren’t sure the deal would close until the last week. He emphasizes that there won’t be any surprisingly quick Game Pass releases this fall.

It is unknown which Acti-Blizz games Spencer & co intend to release via GP. There is a choice of: Call of Duty, Diablo, Warcraft, World of Warcraft and Starcraftto name a few well-known series.
