Microsoft is exploring the possibility of creating new low graphics modes in order to reduce power consumption, in a trend that is happening in several brands around the world.
The company will be looking to make its flagship console consume less electricity due to the price hike happening around the world, so they are seriously considering reducing graphics.
The console would use a lower resolution, going from 1440p to 1080p, lowering the frame rate per second from 60+ fps to 30 or 40, and finally lowering the graphics quality level and turning off the power-hungry settings.
Microsoft is serious about improving performance
Microsoft conducted an internal investigation with its employees to find out their position on the environmental impact, with results favorable to the reduction.
The company has to solve this new graphics package internally but also with external developers, as this change could cause problems when you have these modes in the titles.
The console will try to be more efficient and it seems to be a success of the company, because with the increase in the prices of services such as electricity, it is a reality that the pockets of users are affected and this can help in an exceptional way.
Microsoft wants these modes to reach its two consoles and not just stay on the Xbox Series X, although it’s true that the Xbox Series S doesn’t have all the graphics power available as if it were the primary console.
The company will apply these changes and it could be a way to differentiate consoles from computers a little more, but we will see this already in the near future.
