Microsoft Unveils AI-Powered Upgrades for Windows and Surface Lineup in 2024

Written by Munis Hawass Sunday, December 31, 2023 12:00 AM By riding the wave of artificial intelligence, Microsoft Microsoft is set to overhaul Windows with AI features this year, and if you thought it had forgotten about its Surface lineup, Microsoft is coming to prove you wrong, although it will take a while.

Microsoft has some significant upgrades planned for its Surface PCs, which, according to a report by Windows Central, include an improved design, internal components, and new AI-enabled features, which will be available next year.

As usual, next year’s Surface PCs will come in two options – one powered by Intel’s 14th generation chips and the other powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon

The Arm models, codenamed CADMUS, will be specifically designed to support artificial intelligence features that Microsoft plans to include in a future version of Windows, and, in addition, will offer improvements in performance, battery life and security that are comparable to Apple’s silicon chips.

According to the report, the upcoming Surface Pro 10 will have a brighter screen that supports HDR technology, and will also come with an anti-glare layer and give users the option to choose between a resolution of 2160 x 1440 or 2880 x 1920.

The device may have rounded corners, similar to Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Studio range. In addition, it may support a new Type Cover with a button that opens Windows Copilot. There is a major redesign planned for the Surface Pro 6, although that won’t come until 2025.

The Surface Laptop 6 will reportedly have a slightly larger 13.8-inch display compared to the 13.5-inch display on the Surface Laptop 5. The 15-inch model will remain the same size. The device may have a round screen with thinner bezels, and it could also have new ports. Including two USB-C ports, one for USB-A, and one for Surface Connect charging, the laptop is rumored to be equipped with a touchpad and a dedicated keyboard button for Windows Copilot.

According to the report, Microsoft could launch the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 sometime next year, and there are also rumors of a new, refreshed Surface Laptop Studio, coming in 2025, again in two options – Intel and Arm.
