Washington: The company has decided to stop making mice, keyboards and webcams under the Microsoft brand and instead develop Surface-branded PC accessories. The focus is on the Windows PC accessories portfolio under the Surface brand, said Dan Laycock, senior communications manager at Microsoft. Laycock said the goal is to create a range of Surface-branded PC accessories. Existing Microsoft-branded PC accessories such as mice, keyboards, and webcams will be sold in markets at prevailing retail prices while supplies last.
The Surface family of accessories includes several excellent keyboards and mice, but they tend to be more expensive than Microsoft-branded products.
Microsoft did not specify whether it will introduce more budget-friendly Surface accessories or completely switch to premium accessories.
