Microsoft: The xCloud project is approaching on the French side – News

In testing across the Atlantic for several months, Microsoft’s cloud gaming service called xCloud should soon arrive on the Old Continent.

Microsoft has just announced that France and 10 other countries will soon be able to experience the service, and participate in its evolution towards its commercial form. Yes no specific date has yet been released out of caution with regard to the Covid-19 pandemic, the list of European countries concerned is known: France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden.

In one communicated, Catherine Gluckstein, Product & Strategy Director of the xCloud Project, says:

We know that video gaming is of paramount importance in these times of social distancing, as one of the tools that keeps us connected to our friends and family. But we are also aware that the bandwidth has been reduced in many countries, since very many people stay at home and are connected online, for work as for entertainment. (…)

Since the start of the preview program last year, the xCloud Project has grown and evolved. As we promised at X019 in November, we plan to expand the program to more countries this year. To this end, and by assessing the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, 11 European countries, including France, will soon be able to join the program, as soon as we judge it reasonable to do so. To preserve the network, this will be done gradually.

In anticipation of the arrival of the xCloud preview, Microsoft opens registration for owners of Android devices. To do this, go to the official xCloud project page and fill in the dedicated form. However, in order to preserve the network, the manufacturer indicates that access will be sent gradually.
