Microsoft test adapting set-up Windows 10 to use – Computer – News

Microsoft is testing a feature to tailor Windows 10’s setup to the purpose users have with a device. The feature is included in an Insiders build of a new version of the OS.

For the new feature, Microsoft asks what users want to use a device for, with options such as ‘gaming’, ‘school work’ and ‘business’, writes Microsoft. The set-up then adjusts the options shown to that choice, but nothing is set differently than normal after that, according to the company. What exactly is different, Microsoft doesn’t mention.

Microsoft is starting to develop the feature, so it’s not ready yet. Some of the testers will see the function when resetting the device, Microsoft said. It is build 20231 in the Dev Channel of the Insiders program.

The company tests features frequently and early in recent years through its Insiders program. Many of those features will come at a later stage in the stable version of Windows 10, for which two major updates appear annually.
