Microsoft Teams update reduces latency by 30%.

Microsoft has reduced the latency of the Teams desktop client for Windows and Mac.

Jeff Chen, Microsoft Principal Group Program Manager at Microsoft Teams, announced that users can navigate between chats and channels 30% faster.

According to Chen, switching between chats and channels is the most common action in Teams. The program manager says the new Teams framework works faster thanks to improvements in the execution of HTML, JavaScript and arrays.

Updates in recent months

Microsoft has made several performance updates to Microsoft Teams over the past few months, including faster response times in meetings and fewer delays in joins. The organization announced that the latest framework update reduces load times by 21% and accelerates response times during meetings.

The delay of the hand raise function has been reduced by 16%. In June, Microsoft unveiled lower latency and faster load times for messaging pages. Navigation between chats and channels has become 11% faster and the loading speed of the chat box has decreased by 63%.

In February, Microsoft announced that the compute power required for Teams meetings had been reduced by 50 percent for energy-intensive applications, including video conferencing with ten or more participants.
