The meetings of Microsoft Teams they will now prioritize participants with video. Microsoft ad A few days ago through the Microsoft 365 admin center that a recent update to Microsoft Teams enabled a new experience.
This new view automatically populates the meeting layout with video-only participants. It does so even if they are not active speakers. The company explained that this feature was now generally available to Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft Teams meetings will now prioritize participants with video
Previously, the meeting window used to display the video streams of up to 9 participants on the screen in a mixed grid. It contained a mix of audio-only and video-only participants. However, people who had disabled their video feed appeared with avatars. This resulted in taking up significant screen real estate.
Microsoft says the new view has been optimized for the video experience in Teams. This means that the application will now give priority to meeting participants who have activated their video. Audio-only participants will be displayed below the videos. The change will only affect meetings with more than 9 participants.
The new experience will allow the application to use all the additional space to display more video participants on the screen. Eventually it will encourage more people to turn on their video streams. On the other hand, this can also cause fatigue during longer meetings knowing that you are all the time “on screen”.
