Microsoft announced the Surface Duo, a dual-screen device, a few days ago. The smartphone will be available next September. Here is a review of its features and prices.
The Surface Duo is much more than new. This dual-screen mobile device marks Microsoft’s debut in the Android hardware market. It runs Android 10 however an upgrade to Android 11 is planned in the coming months.
During its official presentation, Microsoft said
“The Surface Duo represents the next wave of mobile productivity, prompting people to rethink what is possible with a device that fits in a pocket.”
The giant emphasizes that the machine targets consumers and professionals, in particular the business world. Security would be an important asset.
“Surface Duo has protection built into every layer with deeply integrated hardware, firmware and OS to keep your identities and data secure. Part of what makes this possible is a custom designed Unified Extensible Firmware (UEFI) interface to have full control over firmware components. ”
The smartphone comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Launcher and a series of “home” applications including the Office suite.

On the technical side, we have two 5.6-inch AMOLED screens capable of providing a definition of 1800 × 1350 pixels. Together they form an 8.1-inch screen (connected by a 360-degree hinge) with a 3: 2 ratio and a resolution of 2700 × 1800 pixels.
Its mechanics have a Snapdragon 855 processor accompanied by 6 GB of RAM. Two versions are planned with respective storage capacities of 128 GB and 256 GB. Regarding the camera, we are entitled to an 11 megapixel sensor (f / 2.0). About him the firm promises 4K at 60 fps.
The assembly is powered by a 3,577 mAh battery. Wireless charging does not appear to be available.
