Microsoft shows ad in Explorer of Insider version Windows 11 – Computer – News

This will only be in the ‘home’ editions. I don’t think they’re going to do it in the commercial versions. I haven’t seen it there until now.

The automatic preinstallation – or the imposition – of modern UI apps by Microsoft is part of a service that provides the “Windows user experience”; “Windows Connected User Experience”; etc hot.
Previously, this could be disabled in Pro and ‘better’ SKUs via a registry key.
MS stopped doing that a few years ago and on anything that is not an Enterprise or Education SKU the existence or not of that particular registry key is completely ignored and this service is always on.
There’s no point in turning it off manually. MS happily re-enables these as part of the protection of ‘system-critical’ services at the next periodic check; at least once a week, I thought—usually sooner.

To be honest, MS has been slowly but surely making the Pro licenses completely worthless in terms of upgrade compared to the Home licenses by killing all kinds of features. They apparently didn’t like that consumers who knew about the ropes were choosing eggs for their money through a Pro license.
