Microsoft showed the design of the updated Windows 10

This week, the number of active users of the Windows 10 operating system exceeded one billion people. In honor of this event, Microsoft released a video in which it hinted at upcoming features and interface updates.

Video with fragments of past and future designs was posted on Instagram by Panos Panay, director of development of Windows and Microsoft devices. From it you can find out that the company is going to discolor “live tiles” (Live Tiles). The background for the icons in the Start menu will become less contrast, which will visually create more space between them, and it was easier for the eye to glide over the grid with applications.

Along with this, Microsoft is working to unify the “fluid” design (Fluent Design). Previously, the company redrawn the application icons of the Microsoft Office suite in a single style, many of which have not changed for years, and now it has taken up icons in other built-in programs and interface elements.

In addition, the changes will affect the context menu of Windows 10, as well as the file manager “Explorer”. How they will look is shown in the screenshots above.

The teaser came out shortly before the online presentation of Microsoft, which is scheduled for March 30. It is expected that this event will be announced a new type of monthly subscription Microsoft 365 for consumers, which will combine Office, communication service Microsoft Teams, password manager and other products of the company.
