Microsoft Reveals New Copilot AI Assistant Button to Replace Windows Key on Keyboards

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Microsoft revealed there will be a new Windows services button. This button will function to run the Copilot AI assistant.

So users only need to press one button to open Microsoft’s generative AI tools. This button will make it easier for users to use the AI assistant to carry out tasks such as summarizing documents, recommending music, and answering questions.

“We believe this will empower people to participate in the AI transformation even more easily,” said Microsoft Executive Vice President and Head of Consumer Marketing, Yusuf Mehdi, quoted from Cnet, Tuesday (9/1/2024).

“The new key will use the experience of using Copilot to make everyday use of Copilot easier,” he added.

The Copilot button is placed to the right of the space button. It will likely replace the Windows key or right control on keyboards.

The new button will be coming to the company’s first wave of Windows 11 laptops and PCs this year’s CES week. Cnet reports one of them is present on a Dell XPS laptop.

Microsoft will release the new button for wider use around the end of February. Including presented on Surface devices.

For users who do not have Copilot enabled or it is not available in their country, pressing the button will display Windows search. For now, Copilot can be accessed by pressing Windows key + C.

Microsoft is one of the companies that has taken part in enlivening the Artificial Intelligence (AI) market in the last year. The tech giant invested US$10 billion in popular chatbot maker ChatGPT, OpenAI.

In a short time, Microsoft continued to develop AI. This includes including generative AI in several of its products, including Windows 11 and Microsoft Bing.
