Microsoft has finally removed the standalone Cortana digital assistant application from the Windows 11 operating system in the latest preview version for subscribers to its beta program via the developer Canary Channel.
The American technology giant said in a post on its blog: “The (Cortana) application will be removed after updating to this version. We have ended support for Cortana.”

Microsoft first announced that it would end support for the standalone Cortana application for the Windows operating system in a support document published in June.
Microsoft said at the time: “Cortana support will end in the mobile version of Teams, the Microsoft Teams screen, and Microsoft Teams Rooms in the fall of 2023. Voice assistance will also end in the mobile versions of Teams.” (Outlook) and (Microsoft 365) in the fall of 2023.”
The company added: “This change only affects (Cortana) in Windows, and the productivity assistant from (Cortana) will remain available in mobile device cabinets from (Outlook), (Teams), (Microsoft Teams), and (Microsoft Teams Rooms).
