The beta version is probably stable enough to use on the main PC.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Microsoft on Friday (30/7) officially released Windows 11 to the beta channel. This is the first version of Windows 11 in the beta channel. Windows Insider program members who don’t use the Dev channel can get update this.
To note, there are three channels that can be selected to try Windows 11 in the Windows Insider Program. The three channels are Dev Channel, Beta Channel, and Release Preview Channel.
Reported from thenextweb on Friday (30/7), these beta releases are usually much more stable and generally stable enough to work on your main PC.
If you are already using the Windows 11 Dev Channel, you should probably switch to the Beta Channel. Previously, Microsoft had warned against installing Windows 11 Dev build to your main PC.
Microsoft recommends Windows 11 Dev to be installed to a spare PC. But apparently, many users might still have it installed on the main PC.
Builds released in beta use the same number as Dev, which is 22000,100. Not only identical, other changes such as features, improvements and fixes are also the same as those in Dev.
As for how to install Windows 11 beta as follows :
1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program. Click Start.
2. Link your Microsoft Account. You cannot use a local account with the Insider Program without a significant workaround.
3. Select which channel you want to follow i.e. beta channel.
4. Restart your computer.
5. Go to Settings > Update & Security and select Check for updates.
Wait for it to install and follow the steps.
