Microsoft Releases Age of Empires IV for Xbox Consoles: Game Pass, Resolution, and Frame Rate Details

Microsoft released Age of Empires IV for Xbox consoles. The game is available immediately for Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S. The game is also available through Game Pass for Xbox consoles and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Microsoft immediately released Age of Empires IV during the gamescom trade show in Cologne. The tech giant said last year that the game would come to Xbox consoles this year, but did not previously mention a release date. According to Microsoft, the UI and gameplay are optimized for control with a controller. The company previously did that with the Definitive Edition of Age of Empires II.

The Xbox Series X and S will run the game according to The Verge at a maximum of 60fps, respectively at 4k and 1080p. The Xbox One runs the game at 30fps. With the Xbox One X that is at 1440p, with the ‘regular’ One and One S at 900p. The game supports pvp and pve multiplayer with up to eight players on the Series consoles. Multiplayer on the Xbox One works with up to four players.

Age of Empires IV was already released for PC in 2021. The game was already available on the PC version of Xbox Game Pass at the time. With the release of the console version, Age of Empires IV is also coming to the console version of Game Pass. The game can also be streamed via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
