Microsoft acknowledges that issues have arisen in Direct Access following an update last week. As a result, users can lose connection with the tool and can no longer work remotely. The company has now released a patch.
The problems in Direct Access started earlier this week, but it seems they were caused by KB501950, which was released in mid-October. Microsoft writes which rolls back the known issue for that update. This causes problems in direct access. This is a feature that allows users to remotely access a Windows PC. Other VPN services e remote access solutions he would not have been affected, writes the company. Problems do not occur for all users, but in some cases they may lose connection to Direct Access and thus to their connected computers. This happens especially when the connection is temporarily lost. Due to the error, this connection can no longer be re-established.
The problem is in Windows 10 and 11 and Windows Server. Microsoft writes that multiple versions are affected. These are Windows 10 and 11 versions 21H1 and 22H2 and Windows 10 versions 21H1 and 20H2, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 and Windows Server 2019 and 2022.
System administrators need a rollback of the known issue group policy install and configure to solve the problem. Microsoft has several for this group policies released.
Microsoft says it’s still working on a final fix rather than a rollback. It will be released in the coming weeks.
