Microsoft is still waiting for final information from the European Union and the UK, but the corporation has received the go-ahead for a deal with Activision Blizzard in one more market. The South African Competition Commission disagreed with Sony’s opinion.
In just a few weeks, we will know the final decisions of all regulators on Microsoft’s deal with Activision Blizzard. The corporation is seeking approval from potentially smaller markets, and the South African Competition Commission released a document today.
South Africa is not as big a market for Microsoft as Europe or the UK, but the corporation has to get permission from many countries. It is worth noting that even here Sony tried to act and convince officials that the interested parties blocked the deal.
The South African Competition Commission said it initially had reservations about offering Call of Duty exclusively on Xbox and PC, but Microsoft’s actions showed what the situation could look like once the deal is completed. The commission said the deal is unlikely to have a negative impact on the market.
