Microsoft Promotes Game Division Leaders and Prepares for Future Expansion

Microsoft is promoting people in its video game division to prepare for the future and to properly manage the studios, production and schedule not only within Xbox Game Studios, but also at Bethesda, Activision, Blizzard and King.

The company promoted Matte Bootyho to the president of game content. Booty will be the responsibility of individual development teams, including ZeniMax and Bethesda. These are led by Jamie Leder, President and CEO of ZeniMax. But he will now be subject to Booty.

“Great games are at the heart of everything we do,” explained Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, in an internal email. He believes that better organization will allow the development studios under Xbox and ZeniMax to work together effectively and do the best job possible in expanding the portfolio of games.

It wasn’t said, but it could be a reaction to how the vampire shooter turned out Redfallas well as how he saved himself Starfield. In the case of Redfall, Spencer previously blamed himself for not doing a good job of explaining to Arkane Austin (under Bethesda) the benefits of being part of the Xbox.

He assumes responsibility for the software and hardware divisions of Xbox Sarah Bond as president of Xbox. With it, Microsoft will be able to build the platform of tomorrow, i.e. the future Xbox. Bond joined Xbox in 2017 and was very active behind the scenes during the approval issues of Activision Blizzard’s $68.7 billion acquisition.

One more change. The head of marketing is leaving Microsoft after 32 years Chris Capossela. His place will be taken by Takeshi Numoto, who was behind the birth of Microsoft’s cloud transformation.

Check out Xbox’s new organizational structure below. The good news is that he will leave at the end of this year Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, so there will be more women than men in the management of gaming Microsoft. At the time of Kotick’s departure, Microsoft is expected to name a new Activision Blizzard CEO. For now, he oversees the company’s integration into Microsoft’s gaming division Dave McCarthyChief Operating Officer of Microsoft Gaming.
