This is especially true for Call of Duty, which is available on both Xbox and PlayStation. The good news is that Microsoft has stated that it plans to keep Call of Duty on the PlayStation.
According to Microsoft, “To be clear, Microsoft will continue to make Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles available on PlayStation during the term of any existing agreement with Activision. And we have made a commitment to Sony that we will also make them available on PlayStation beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love.”
Recently, it was reported that at least three Call of Duty titles will come to the PlayStation. However, the report suggested that future titles were a bit of a mixed bag, suggesting that perhaps Microsoft could eventually make them Xbox/PC exclusives.
However, this statement from Microsoft posits that Call of Duty will still be playable on the PlayStation for the foreseeable future, which is good news for PlayStation gamers. That said, it should be noted that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard is not yet a done deal. There are some regulatory hurdles to overcome, but Microsoft’s statement could help allay antitrust concerns.
