Written by Samah Labib Wednesday, November 8, 2023 04:00 AM She announced Microsoft announced a partnership with Inworld AI to help create game dialogue and narrative tools for its Xbox Studios, as the partnership was announced in a blog post by Haiyan Zhang, General Manager of Games AI at Xbox.
Zhang confirmed in the post that this technology aims to work randomly with Microsoft’s cloud and artificial intelligence technology to create a tool that helps game designers and enables them to explore more creative ideas, and convert prompts into detailed texts, according to a Digital Trend report.
No specific Xbox-owned studios were mentioned, nor did developers from them comment as part of this announcement, so it’s unknown how interested these developers really are in adopting this type of AI technology.
Overall, AI is a very controversial topic in creative spaces as artists and writers worry that it will replace their jobs while they create worse art, and Xbox’s AI leadership doesn’t seem to think that will become an issue, as Chang explained that the main purpose of this… The partnership is “to make it easier for developers to realize their visions, try new things, and push the boundaries of today’s gaming and experience to improve gameplay, player connection, and more.”
Ultimately, it will likely be several years before we really know how impactful or beneficial this partnership will be to the developers at Xbox Games Studios, ZeniMax Media, and Activision Blizzard.
