You can now use Outlook on Mac for free, without having to go through a Microsoft 365 subscription.
This was announced by the Microsoft team, along with some new features that users will find in the version of Outlook for Mac when they download it from the App Store.
Outlook for Mac can now be used without a subscription or license
Having a Microsoft 365 license or subscription was a requirement to use Outlook for Mac. A limit that is in the past, as announced by Microsoft. And it is not the only novelty, since users will find a new design in this version optimized for MacOS:
The new Outlook is optimized for Apple Silicon, with snappy performance and faster sync speeds than previous versions. Outlook for Mac does more to integrate with the Apple platform so you get the most out of your macOS device.
As with the Android version, users can add different email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, etc.) and see all their emails in a single inbox. And of course, it also makes it easy to access contacts, calendars, and files stored in the account.
And it also has some extras, which allow users to always have the information they need at hand, without having to open the app or complicate with different configurations. For example, they have a widget to view the calendar and scheduled activities as well as reminders in the Notification Center.
And for those who move from one device to another, you can switch between iPhone and Mac to continue with the tasks you left on Outlook, thanks to the new Handoff function. While this version of Outlook for Mac is still missing some details, the Microsoft team promises that we will soon see new features that will help users improve their productivity.
