Microsoft merges teams for Windows clients and Surface – Computer – News

Microsoft has implemented an internal reorganization with regard to the Experiences & Devices division. The Windows Experience and hardware teams have been merged, suggesting a strategy for deeper integration of Windows and Surface products.

The teams for Windows Experience, or the Windows client, and hardware are submerged chief product officer Panos Panay fall. He is known to the outside world as the person who unveils new Surface products at Microsoft events. Panay continues to fall into his new role under Rajesh Jha, the executive vice president of the Experiences & Devices division.

The merging of teams for Windows clients and hardware means that Microsoft can optimize Windows even better for its own Surface products. According to Panay, this will benefit the entire PC market, according to his internal mail, of which ZDNet publishes the content: “When we design hardware and software together, it enables us to do a better job regarding the long-term future of Windows.” He points to the arrival of two-screen systems, different types of chips, connectivity and app platforms.

Part of the reorganization is that too corporate vice president Joe Belfiore, who previously led the Windows Experience team, joins the Office Experience Group. Microsoft reorganized its two years ago then Windows & Devices division in separate teams for Experiences and Devices on the one hand and for Cloud and AI on the other.
