The amount may deter many companies, although there have been corporations that see a lot of potential in the communication platform.
Bloomberg journalists responded to the news, confirming an interesting point – Dina Bass and Katie Roof received the news about Microsoft’s preliminary talks to take over Discord for over $ 10 billion.
Currently, the communicator is closer to entering the stock exchange than joining another corporation, but two editorial offices confirmed the ongoing consultations. Matthew Kanterman, an analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, emphasizes that Microsoft’s takeover of Discord may turn out to be extremely beneficial in the context of Game Pass, because the offer could be combined with a subscription for players.
Discord offers users voice and text communication, and in the era of the pandemic, the interest in the platform has increased, which currently has over 100 million active users per month. The messenger is not only focused on players, because it is used, among others, by schools, book clubs, during dance classes or for various meetings. Currently, interested parties have declined to comment, so it remains to wait for official reports. The corporation from Redmond tried to take over TikTok and acquire the rights to Pinterest last year.
