If MS continues to nurture and develop Windows 10, will the difference with Windows 11 still be worth the effort to convert, upgrade or discard your hardware?
The differences between W10 and W11 is of course the reason to switch to W11 of course and W11 is of course supported longer than W10. I just wouldn’t go to the trouble of upgrading the PC ’cause Windows 11 is coming soon. I myself will not immediately upgrade my desktop once Windows 11 is there. With my next hardware upgrade (no idea when, but will probably happen before October 14, 2025) I will also switch to Windows 11.
MS forces the hardware world to completely renew itself (within 5 years). What does all this cost in raw materials, energy, waste processing and annoyance.
The average PC has a depreciation period of five years. The PCs that do not have a TPM 2.0 standard on their motherboard have already been written off for about 5 years and in that sense financially. The fact that a PC can last longer in itself does not change that, of course.
Some equipment technically lasts another 10 years, right?
Technologically quite a lot has changed in 10 years, the processors today also wipe the floor with even my i7 7700k, for example and that is not a CPU from the stone age or something.
