A curious incident occurred during the FTC v. Microsoft hearing this week, in which a US agency is seeking a temporary injunction against Microsoft’s attempt to buy Activision Blizzard. Microsoft lawyer claims that The Elder Scrolls 16 will be released in 2026, which is wrong in every sense.
The lawyer, whose words were transcribed by The Verge, tried to correct the misunderstanding, but managed only to further confuse the situation when she said: “There are two Elder Scrolls games, one of them is online called Elder Scrolls Online – it’s a multiplayer game, it’s on the PlayStation. [Адвокат ФТК] talks about Elder Scrolls 16, a single-player game scheduled for release in 2026».
Obviously, the Microsoft lawyer meant to say “The Elder Scrolls 6”, but this only makes things worse, because The Elder Scrolls 6 has no more chances to be released in 2026 than The Elder Scrolls 16.
TES6 was announced many years ago, but its status is still unknown. At a hearing last week, Xbox head Phil Spencer said that TES6 is still “so far away, it’s hard to even figure out what the platforms will be like“and what’s before it”five plus years».
