Microsoft launches training for teachers and tutors on dyslexia, in partnership with Made By Dyslexia – Microsoft News Center Brasil

Free, digital training is available for teachers and parents of students with the diagnosis

Microsoft has just launched, in partnership with Made By Dyslexia, a non-profit institution specializing in working with people diagnosed with dyslexia, a training focused on ensuring that children with the diagnosis have adequate education and follow-up during their return to school in August. .

According to data from Made By Dyslexia, one in five children who have dyslexia have the skills needed for the jobs of the future, as they are called by the World Economic Forum. These are characteristics that include skills such as leadership, social influence, creativity, initiative and idea generation. However, 80% of these children leave school without proper monitoring and, as a result, are not trained. In this context, tutors and teachers hold the power to fully develop the potential in these children.

“We want to contribute, through this partnership, to specialized training for students with this condition, offering free training for tutors to give all the necessary support so that these students can have better learning conditions and the skills necessary to enter the world of work”, says Fabio Hara, Marketing Manager for the Professional Developers audience at Microsoft Brazil.

O module it is available on Microsoft Learn, a platform with several free courses, from different areas and levels of knowledge and was developed in partnership with the main references in dyslexia in a course divided into two levels:

  • Level 1: Awareness of Dyslexia, that equips all teachers and tutors with the basics to identify, support and empower all children with dyslexia.
  • Level 2: Teaching for Dyslexia, which deepens knowledge about dyslexia in the classroom. The videos are full of expert strategies and solutions, showing what kind of content to teach, the reasons behind dyslexia, and how to educate children who have this diagnosis.

The initiative is one of many actions under the Mais Brasil program, a comprehensive plan launched in October 2020 to expand Microsoft’s 33-year long-term commitment to the country, with education, professional training and entrepreneurship.

From October 2020 to April 2022, more than 5 million people were reached (started a course) with different Microsoft qualification or requalification initiatives, and nearly 900,000 completed at least one course. During this period, more than 95,000 people were hired to take these courses and more than 3,200 teachers and tutors (train the trainers) were trained in our initiatives.
