Microsoft launches the first big update for Windows 10 in 2020

By integrating WSL 2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux 2), Microsoft aims to improve the performance of the Windows subsystem. The company also promised to update the system kernel through Windows updates, and it will be open source so that developers can create the WSL kernel and contribute to the changes.

WSL 2 will not include support for Linux GUI applications or GPU hardware acceleration, but Microsoft has promised to add these two features in the upcoming Windows update.

The Window 10 May 2020 Update includes significant improvements to the Cortana digital assistant, which can be separated from the taskbar, and can choose between directing orders in writing or verbally.

Cortana got improvements to the interface to make it more conversational, and Microsoft added quick search phrases to the main search interface. This also includes quick access to weather, news, and more.

Windows 10 users can download the update by going to Settings, then Update & Security, and then Windows Update.
