Microsoft has launched a simulator to train the artificial intelligence of drones
The program will be able to simulate millions of flights that in real life would be dangerous
Microsoft has launched a platform to learn how to use artificial intelligence (AI) systems for drones. Project AirSim is a flight simulator for drones that companies can use to train and develop software to control them. The platform makes it possible to carry out test flights in places that would be too dangerous in reality, such as near power lines.
Microsoft claims millions of flights can be simulated in seconds. For example, companies can virtually see how the vehicle flies in the rain or how strong winds can affect battery life. In a statement announcing the launch, Gurdeep Pall of Microsoft, the company stated that it showcased “the power of the industrial metaverse: the virtual worlds where companies will build, test, and refine solutions, and then bring them into the real world.”
The firm envisions the technology being used to train artificial intelligence systems that fly autonomous aerial vehicles, from air taxis to delivery drones.
