Microsoft is working on fix for defective buttons Xbox Series controllers – Gaming – News

Microsoft tells The Loadout that it is aware of cases of Xbox Series controllers with buttons that do not respond and that it is “actively working” to fix the problems.

It seems to be mainly about the A, B, X and Y buttons. Those would only work some of the time if the problem happened. Controllers affected by the problem show the symptoms when connected to an Xbox as well as a PC, indicating that the problem lies with the controller itself and not the receiver of its signals. How widespread the problem is isn’t clear at this point, but the fact is Microsoft responds to it and recognizing the problems does lend legitimacy to the issue.

It is not yet clear what will ultimately be the solution. If it concerns a problem with the firmware of the controller, this can be solved relatively easily with a firmware update, which can be administered via Windows or Xbox. If it is a hardware problem, things get more complicated. Then the controllers must be returned to Microsoft for repair or replacement.

The latest Xbox controller came out at the same time as the Xbox Series X | S, but Microsoft officially just calls it the next-generation Xbox controller. Compared to previous generations, the controller has received much smaller changes, but in terms of appearance it looks very similar. Tweakers also devoted one in his Xbox Series X review chapter to the controller.

Not only Xbox controllers can experience this kind of problem. The PlayStation 5’s new DualSense controller may be related to stick drift: by default the controller transmits a movement of a joystick without the user touching that stick. There is even one for this in the US lawsuit; the law firm claims that Sony was “aware of the problem,” without disclosing it. The lawyers call Sony’s actions, among other things, ‘fraudulent’ and ‘illegal’. Also the Joy-Cons of the Nintendo Switch show this problem, but Nintendo has not yet provided a structural solution to this, much to the dismay of consumer organizations.
