Microsoft has confirmed that it is currently difficult to obtain wireless Xbox controllers. The company blames problems in the supply chains, and promises that work is being done to improve the situation.
It was VGC who first reported the situation, after several hopeful controller buyers had gone home empty-handed from various stores. When asked by the website, a Microsoft spokesperson replied that the problem was known.
– We know that it can be difficult to find wireless Xbox controllers right now, due to delivery difficulties. We work as fast as we can with our partners in both production and store to improve this. Please check with your local dealer to find out about availability.
The situation is particularly prevalent in Europe, where several stores are completely sold out. A quick search at various Norwegian stores shows that here too there are no Xbox Series X controllers in most warehouses, with a delivery time estimated at close to 5-6 weeks. Wired controllers and the more expensive Elite 2 variant, however, are still available.
In the United States, it should still go well to obtain a controller, but Microsoft’s statement did not mention anything specific about different regions. The company also did not say anything about when it is expected that new controllers will reach the stores.
Consoles will probably be difficult to get hold of for a while longer.
