The Age of Empires series turned 25 this week and Microsoft celebrated the occasion with glitz and splendor. As part of the birthday party the creator of the game has revealed more newsincluding an Age of Mythology revamp.
The 2002 game introduced a more supernatural element to the popular strategy series, focusing on the gods of various mythologies. The result was very successful, thought our reviewer.
– There is no doubt that Age of Mythology is the best “Age” game of all time. It takes everything that made previous games great and adds carefully thought-out and well-balanced gameplay elements that delight and impress, Erling Ellingsen wrote at the time.
The new version, called Age of Mythology: Retold, promises renewed graphics and game mechanics. However, exactly what we can expect here is still unclear and more information, including the date, will be revealed later.
Age of Mythology: Retold will arrive on PC and will be available via PC Game Pass.

Additionally, Microsoft has confirmed launch plans for two Age of Empires games on consoles. Specifically, we are talking about Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires IV.
The first, a remake of the 1999 game Age of Empires II, will arrive on Xbox on January 31st. Age of Empires IV will then arrive in 2023, Microsoft said.
Age of Empires IV has also received a new anniversary edition, with various new content to explore. The third season of content from the original game has also been launched.
