It was designed for cheaper laptops and also computers for students and teachers. Version 10S has one major limitation: applications running on this system must come exclusively from the Windows Store.

There are two reasons. First and foremost, the US software giant has control over what software people can install. And because it comes from legitimate sources, the risk of the user downloading some dangerous ballast to their PC is greatly minimized.

All files stored in Windows Store are carefully checked. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to smuggle a malicious virus into it.

And what about the second reason? By limiting the ability to install only from the Windows Store, Microsoft achieved that hardware-intensive applications did not run on cheaper machines. In other words, the slower computers for which Windows 10 S was very often designed were not unnecessarily overloaded.

It can be expected that it will be similar for Windows 11 SE. For eleven people, Microsoft has increased the hardware requirements for computers, which is why even a few years old machines can have a problem with installation. For many users, a lightweight version of SE could be the solution.
