KB5012599 is also plagued by similar issues, including a bug where the update may fail to install with error 0x800f0831. On the Microsoft forum, users claim that the download happens. However, after a period of inactivity, it stops at 20% and then goes to 100%.

After getting stuck in the installation process, Windows Update generates error 0x800f0831 with an installation failure corresponding message.
