Windows 365 will bring you a personalized, end-to-end PC experience from cloud to any device; equip workers and organizations with the power, convenience, and safety to do their jobs hybrid
Jakarta, 14 July 2021 — Microsoft Corporation has just announced Windows 365 – a service cloud which introduces a new way to use Windows 10 or Windows 11 (when they become available) for businesses of all sizes. Windows 365 brings the operating system to the Microsoft Cloud, bringing the full Windows experience – from apps to data to settings – to personal or corporate devices. Securely designed and built on Zero Trust principles, Windows 365 secures and stores information in cloud – not on the device; provide a safe and productive experience for workers, from interns and contractors, to software developers and industrial designers. Windows 365 also creates a personal computing category hybrid a new one called PC Cloud, which uses the power cloud and the device’s ability to provide a full and personalized Windows experience. This announcement is a remarkable development as organizations around the world seek to find the best way to facilitate work models hybrid.
“With Windows 365, we created a new category: Cloud PCs,” said Satya Nadella, Chairman dan CEO, Microsoft. “Just like the application brought to cloud with SaaS, we are now bringing the operating system to cloud, providing organizations with greater flexibility and a secure way to empower their workforce to be more productive and connected, regardless of location.”
A new computing paradigm for work hybrid
New ways of working transformed by virtual processes and remote collaboration have emerged in recent times. With this trend, employees need access to company resources from any location and device — and with cybersecurity threats increasing, securing those resources is paramount.
“Profession hybrid has fundamentally changed the role of technology in today’s organizations.” Jared Spataro, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft 365. “With a workforce that is more differentiated than ever, organizations need new ways to deliver great productivity experiences with increased versatility, convenience and security. PC Cloud is a category of personal computing hybrid that turns any device into a personalized, productive and secure digital workspace. Today’s Windows 365 announcement is just the beginning of what’s possible as we blur the line between devices and cloud.”
Windows 365 helps companies solve challenges they have faced since long before the pandemic. Workers expect greater flexibility and more options for working from different locations, while still ensuring the security of organizational data. Seasonal workers can get in and out of teams without logistical challenges, such as having new hardware or securing personal devices — enabling organizations to scale their work in busy periods more efficiently and safely. In addition, companies can easily ensure creative, analytical, engineering or scientific workers have more computing power and secure access to the critical applications they need.
Versatile, simple, secure: the transformational impact of Windows 365
By building on the power of the Windows operating system and cloud, Windows 365 provides convenience to any organization in three main ways:
- Strong. With boot instantaneously to their personal Cloud PC, users can use all their apps, tools, data and settings from cloud on any device. Windows 365 provides a full PC experience at cloud. Cloud also give versatility in processing power and storage, enabling IT to be scaled up or down as needed. With a choice of Windows 10 or Windows 11 (after being widely available in 2021), organizations can choose the Cloud PC that’s right for them at a price per user per month.
- Simple. With Cloud PCs, users can log in and continue with the last activity they were doing across devices, providing a simple and familiar Windows experience through cloud. For IT, Windows 365 also simplifies the process deployment, updates, and management — and unlike other solutions, Windows 365 doesn’t require any virtualization experience. With Windows 365 optimized for endpoints, IT can easily acquire, deploy, and manage their organization’s Cloud PCs just like managing physical PCs through Microsoft Endpoint Manager. Small and medium-sized businesses can purchase Windows 365 directly or through a service provider cloud, and set up Cloud PCs for their organizations with just a few clicks. Microsoft is also continuing to innovate on Azure Virtual Desktop for organizations with immersive virtualization experiences that want more customization options and flexibility.
- Secure. Windows 365 is designed to be secure, harness the power cloud and the principles of Zero Trust. Information is secured and stored in cloud, not on the device. Always up to date and built on the strengths of Microsoft’s comprehensive security capabilities and foundations, Windows 365 simplifies security and recommends the best security settings for any given environment.
New opportunities for the Microsoft partner ecosystem
For decades, Microsoft partners have been central to how we deliver technology and business transformation to customers around the world. Offer depth cloud and Microsoft’s technology portfolio gives partners the power to build innovative industry-specific solutions. Windows 365 will enable our partners to continue to deliver more.
From a systems integrator, managed service provider, independent software vendor (ISV), to original equipment manufacturer (OEM), the new Cloud PC category creates opportunities for our partners to bring new Windows experiences in cloud.
Organizations will seek systems integrators and managed service provider to help them get the most out of their entire Windows. ISVs can continue to build Windows applications and can now ship them on cloud to help businesses work in new ways as they continue to digitally transform. And OEM manufacturers get the opportunity to integrate Windows 365 into their broad service portfolio, alongside powerful device features and secure hardware.
“To be the best in the new world of work, employees need technology that is familiar, easy to use, secure, and always available,” said Veit Siegenheim, Global Modern Workplace Lead, Avanade. “With Windows 365, Microsoft harnesses the power cloud to empower productivity anywhere, from any device, and enhance the workplace experience.”
