Foreign media reported on the 13th (local time) that Microsoft (MS) will provide a new Windows backup app for the older Windows 10 operating system (OS).
Reports confirmed that the latest Windows 10 build 19045.3391, which was released to the Release Preview Channel last week, includes the Windows Backup app, which was released to the Windows 11 Developer Channel via build 23466 in May.
The Windows Backup app provides the ability to back up and restore folders, files, photos, apps, settings, and credentials. All content is synced with OneDrive. The restore action not only restores the app, but also locks the app to its original location along with synchronizing Windows settings and other preferences.
However, since Windows 19 Out-of-The-Box Experience (OOBE) does not support restoring from OneDrive backups, some analysts say that MS added the Windows Backup app to make migration to Windows 11 easier.
Meanwhile, Windows 10 OS will officially end all support on October 14, 2025.
