Microsoft announced its intention to add a new button to keyboards compatible with its Windows 11 operating system, which will be dedicated to operating its smart assistant, Copilot.
According to an official statement, the Windows computers that will arrive this year will carry the new Copilot button, and the first of those computers to arrive with the new button will be the Dell XPS series.
The American company announced that Windows 11 computers will provide an integrated experience for its users with artificial intelligence, where they will be able to enjoy various smart features, starting from the strong performance of its processors, all the way to its new button on the computers keyboard.
The addition of the new button is the first change of its kind on Windows operating system keyboards in 30 years, as the company has not changed the keys of its Windows-compatible keyboards since 1994. The button will appear for the first time during the Consumer Electronics Show CES 2024, and it will also carry it. The new Surface computers that the company will unveil during the coming period of this year.
What is a Copilot button?
The new Copilot button will be located to the left of the space bar, in the space between the Alt button and the arrow buttons, and will replace the right Ctrl button, which will constitute a change for some users who have been accustomed to its presence in this place for many years.
By clicking the new button, Microsoft Copilot Assistant will be called, to help Windows 11 users complete various tasks.
The company allows the freedom to activate or disable the new button, which if it is disabled, when pressed, a traditional search will be performed on board Windows.
Microsoft is focusing on the name Copilot, to relate to it all the advantages and services it provides related to artificial intelligence, as it recently changed the name of its chat search engine from Bing Chat to Copilot.
It also used the same name with artificial intelligence tools directed at the corporate sector, in addition to launching a new application called Microsoft Copilot for Android and iPhone phones, as well as a website for the platform, in order to be a direct competitor to the ChatGPT platform from OpenAI.
