Microsoft has now released a feature for Windows 11 that makes it easy to connect iCloud to the Photos app on your PC.
The company said the iCloud app for Windows will be available for download via the Microsoft Store as an additional update to the Photos app and will be fully available to Windows 11 users by the end of the month, according to a report from digitartlend.
This feature allows you to combine all content from all sources including phone, camera and various cloud storage options like iCloud Photos and OneDrive, and you will be able to see all your photos and videos in one gallery in Windows. 11 and iCloud photos will also be classified in their own folder for easy identification.
To get this feature, be sure to update the Windows 11 Photos app to the latest version and then install the iCloud for Windows app, all from the Microsoft Store.
Then log into your Apple account and sync your photos, which will send all the contents of your iCloud photos to the Windows Photos app.
ICloud integration isn’t the only Apple feature seen in Windows 11 recently, and at the end of last month, Microsoft sent a preview version of Windows 11 to the Dev and Beta channels to test a feature similar to what’s available in macOS and iPadOS, allowing you to turn your PC or tablet into a portable hotspot without connecting your iPhone.
For the preview of Windows 11, this functionality is added to the Phone Link app, which is already part of Microsoft’s program, the only problem is that it will only be compatible with a limited number of Samsung smartphones.
Microsoft also released the Windows 11 2022 Anniversary Update in September, which includes several professional and productivity features as an overall theme, but some recent announcements from the brand may point to greater cross-platform compatibility as a theme going forward.
